ANZAC Day

27 Apr 2024

Shalom College took the time to gather as a college community, in gratitude for generations of members of the army, navy, and air force who have served so that we can enjoy the peace and freedom that characterises our Australian way of life.

On Wednesday we held a College Assembly where the enduring legacy of mateship, self-sacrificing courage, and perseverance was highlighted in an interview with past parent and naval veteran, Mr Max Francis. During the prayer, cadets placed the traditional poppies, and a wreath was laid to the beautiful hymn, How Great Thou Art, performed by our talented orchestra. The Last Post and Reveille were played by Year 12 student Angus and the Treble Makers led us in the anthems of New Zealand and Australia.
On Thursday, 300 students represented the College and their families at services across Bundaberg, Bargara, Agnes Water, Rosedale, Moore Park Beach, Elliott Heads, Gin Gin, Childers, and Woodgate Beach.

Thank you to the many students and people in the Shalom community who participated in our liturgy and the services across the region.
