SHALOM NAIDOC WEEK CELEBRATIONS

1 Aug 2025

SHALOM NAIDOC WEEK CELEBRATIONS: NAIDOC Week is celebrated across Australia during the first week of July (Sunday to Sunday), recognising and honouring the rich history, diverse cultures, and remarkable achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s a time for all Australians to engage with and learn about the oldest continuing cultures on Earth. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of the young leaders, the vision of communities, and the legacy of ancestors.
This week, Shalom College proudly hosted a full week of activities to mark the occasion, with a different event each day. All students were encouraged to take part in the celebrations, which included a free BBQ, a Staff vs First Nations Students Netball Game, a Kahoot Trivia Challenge focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, a ‘NAIDOC on the Grass’ event with primary school students, and a special NAIDOC Cake Celebration to wrap up the week.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this week a meaningful and memorable celebration of culture, community, and connection.
