Letter from Mr McMahon

Dear Parents & Care Givers,

As I mentioned in yesterday's Newsletter, I am contacting you in regard to a proposal that we believe will help the continuous improvement of teaching practice at Shalom.

Teachers work hard to do their best for your children but there is always more to do and different ways to do that.  Good teachers, and Shalom has a lot of those, often go over and above what is required for young people.  Time is a very finite commodity and trying to give good teachers a little more time to work together for the benefit of students, is a good thing.  Educational research would show that collaboration time made available to teachers has a very positive impact on student outcomes.

The video is my explanation to you of what we are proposing.  I hope it is clear enough.  Also below is an FAQ document that may answer some questions you might have.  There is also a link below to help us gauge the level of support there might be for this proposal from parents.  Could I please ask you to view the video and give us some feedback to help us move forward with this proposal – or not?

I have also mentioned, in the video, a change to how we structure at Shalom, the Parents & Friends Association.  This change is a response to the limited support the P&F have achieved at monthly meetings.

Thanks, in anticipation, for your time in viewing the short video and completing the feedback document.

Kind regards,

Mr Dan McMahon
