Hiroshima Cranes

19 Nov 2024

Over the past few months Shalom students, staff and families have helped create 1000 origami paper cranes for the Hiroshima Peace Park.
In December, a group of students and staff will be travelling to Japan and will stop to visit Hiroshima on their journey, to deliver the paper cranes.

Hiroshima Peace Project: After the bombing of Hiroshima, a young girl Sadako Sasaki became ill and wanted to help make the world a better place while she was still alive. Her goal was to fold 1000 cranes, but unfortunately only reached 500. Through her resilient spirit the cranes symbolise hope and unity for years to come.
